Samhain Fire Cermony
When?Start time: Tuesday 19:30 (31 October)
End time: Tuesday 22:30 (31 October)
Do come and join us for a sacred fire ceremony to celebrate Samhain – meaning “summers end” in the Celtic calendar. This is a transition gateway and it is when the veil between the worlds, this world and the spirit world is the thinnest. Hence the modern day Halloween festival which comes from Samhain. Traditionally all the fires from Ireland would be relit from the fire kindled by the King’s chief druid on the hill of Tlachtga. Each family would then keep the fire burning for the year. The assemblies of the five Irish provinces also took place at Samhain at the Hill of Tara – the Seat of the Irish King.
This ceremony starts at 7.30pm and there will be refreshments afterwards.
If you feel like bringing biccies or a small offering of food or tea to share it is very welcome and much appreciated!
